Thirsty Thursday: Frank & Sadie's Ghost Cocktail

It's time to send the little ones to dreamland and set your radio's dial to spooky... Bolt the door, lock your windows, and steel yourself for mysterious suspense in this evening's final feature: Beyond Belief.

Meet Frank and Sadie Doyle: Toast of the upper crust, headliners on the society pages, and, oh yes... They see ghosts!

Frank: Who cares what evil lurks in the hearts of men?

Sadie: Unless evil's carrying the martini tray, darling!

*clink!*

If you never listened to The Thrilling Adventure Hour, the new-time podcast in the style of old-time radio, Halloween is the perfect time to catch up on their spookiest on-going story: Beyond Belief!  Beyond Belief follows the adventures of two high society married mediums whose love of booze is only surpassed by their love for each other (or maybe it's the other way around).

Paul F. Tompkins and Paget Brewster play Frank and Sadie Doyle, and each episode finds them facing off against some dangerous foe like ghosts or vampires or an evil clown or sobriety.   I was lucky enough to attend a few of their show tapings when they were performing at the Largo in Los Angeles, but if you never did, you can still catch up with all the episodes on iTunes and even continue the story in comic book form.

While I don't think Frank and Sadie ever turn their nose up to liquor of any kind, I thought it best to find a cocktail for them that was extra strong with a spooky twist.  And it's tasty, too.  Make one and enjoy one of my favorite episodes, Wishing Hell.

Ghost Cocktail

1 shot gin

1 shot Cointreau or other orange liqueur

1 shot fresh lemon juice

dash of egg white

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a martini glass.  Garnish with a lemon peel.
